mailcow

Real email on your own domain — standards-based, self-hosted, no inbox-as-a-service.

Overview

mailcow

mailcow is a dockerized, fully-featured mail server suite built around Postfix, Dovecot, Rspamd, SOGo and ClamAV. It ships everything a modern team needs to run mail in-house: IMAP/SMTP, webmail, calendars and contacts, anti-spam, anti-virus and a clean admin UI — all glued together and kept current by an active community.

Email is still the most important business protocol on the planet. mailcow gives you a production-grade mail stack without renting it from a hyperscaler that monetises metadata. We run it for you on European infrastructure, keep it patched and monitored, and hand you proper admin tooling instead of a vendor portal.

What you get

Capabilities

Full mail stack

Postfix, Dovecot, Rspamd, ClamAV and SOGo packaged together — IMAP, SMTP, webmail, CalDAV and CardDAV, all running side by side.

Strong anti-spam and DMARC

Rspamd with greylisting, Bayesian filtering, SPF, DKIM and DMARC handled out of the box — your inbox stays clean and your domain stays trusted.

Admin UI that doesn't fight you

Add domains, mailboxes, aliases and quotas without leaving the browser. Logs, queue and per-user policies are one click away.

Works with every mail client

Standards-based IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV and CardDAV — Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, K-9 and iOS/Android all just work.

Free & open source

Why this beats the proprietary default

The same advantages apply across every product on this page — open source is a category-level upgrade, not a niche preference.

Auditable source code

Anyone can read, review and audit the code. Security researchers, your own engineers, or an independent auditor — no black boxes, no "trust us".

Your data, your infrastructure

Runs on hardware you control, in a jurisdiction you choose. No silent data exports to a US hyperscaler, no "product improvement" sampling of your content.

Predictable cost, no per-seat tax

Pay for hosting and operations, not for every user, mailbox or feature flag. Adding the tenth or hundredth user doesn't multiply your bill.

Exit is built in

Open standards, open formats, no vendor lock-in. If you ever want to move — to another host, another team, in-house — the data and the software are yours to take.

Want to run mailcow on your terms?

We host, monitor, patch and back up the whole stack on European infrastructure — so you get the open-source upside without the operations cost.
